On November 14th we held our first Student Council meeting for 2023 -24.
Each form group had voted for 2 classmates to represent them on the council.
Pupils from all three Bank View sites were in attendance on the Fazakerley site and we discussed a range of topics including our new Rights Respecting School accreditation, our work with the Parent Partnership Award and how our student council can help our wider school community.
Some ideas already in place to help the school community are:
Student Council Help Desk
This will run every Monday lunchtime and it will be an opportunity for other pupils to speak to the councillors and make suggestions or discuss any issues that they would like to be raised at the next student council meeting.
Supply staff orientation / visitors
School council members will be asked to help new members of supply staff find their way around school by giving them a tour of the school and showing them any classrooms that they might need while they are with us at Bank View.
We will also organise for representatives from the council to give visitors a tour of the building and be tell them a bit about the school.
8 representatives from the school council attended the Liverpool Schools parliament in the Town Hall on 19.1.24.
At the meeting on January 25th at the Fazakerley site the school council met Ian Byrne, the local MP. He described what a MPs job was and also answered the pupils questions which included asking why the government were banning certain dog breeds, how we could give homeless more support and the need for more parks.
